The skiing tracks in Muonio are constructed and maintained by the local tourist companies, the municipality, and the local track pool. They have professional expertise and top-of-the-line equipment to ensure that the entire 200 km track network will be ready for use by mid-February, just in time for the winter holiday season. The grit-based tracks provide a confident and reliable skiing and trekking experience throughout the year. Moreover, the track network that connects the municipalities of Enontekiö, Kittilä, and Kolari is a well-maintained system of almost a thousand kilometres of tracks!

Muonio's skiing season begins in mid-October on the First Snow tracks, which are snow-assured by using added snow from snow guns. Thanks to its snow-assured tracks and early season start, Muonio is a popular choice for world-class skiing teams from around the globe.

The main event during Autumn in Muonio is the FIS-TYKKIKISAT Cross-country skiing competition held at Olos. During Spring, the Lapponia skiing competition is the main event.
